Feeling Stuck? How to Move Forward When Life Feels Uncertain

Updated: Jul 23, 2025

Have you ever found yourself in a season where everything feels like a question mark?

You wake up, go through the motions, and yet—something feels off. You're not where you used to be, but you're not quite sure where you're going either. It’s like standing at a crossroads with no map, just a gut feeling that something needs to change.

If that’s you, you’re not alone—and you’re not broken. Feeling stuck is often the first sign that growth is on the horizon.

Why You’re Feeling Stuck

You may be in the middle of a life transition, or approaching one: a career change, a relationship shift, a move, or even a shift in your identity or priorities. These moments feel uncomfortable because they’re liminal spaces—the in-between.

But here’s the truth: uncertainty doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you're human—and you're evolving.

3 Truths to Remember When You're in Limbo

  1. Clarity comes through movement, not waiting.

Don’t wait for the perfect plan before you act. Small steps create momentum. Call a mentor, journal, take a class—do something.

  1. You can trust your restlessness.

That sense of “off-ness” is your inner wisdom nudging you. Pay attention. It's often how clarity begins.

  1. This season has purpose.

It’s not wasted time. It’s a setup. The stillness is preparing you for your next chapter. In the words of Aaron Burr (Hamilton), you're not standing still, you're lying in wait!

How to Move Forward

Name your stuckness. Where exactly do you feel blocked—emotionally, relationally, spiritually, professionally? What emotion does thinking about it stir up? Is it a sense of urgency? (I have to do something now!" or a dull uneasiness of something missing? Examine every aspect of it until its takes shape.

Get support. You don't have to figure it out alone. A coach can help you identify what’s really holding you back and create a way forward.

Give yourself permission to not have all the answers. Sometimes the best move is to simply stay open and curious.
